Three Women /The Nude Dancer

I got a comment about my painting “Three Women”. https://blog.mariko-irie.com/2013/03/three-women/

“Nice painting, but I think it is not Eakins. I searched the museum’s collection and came up with two paintings by Thomas Eakins, but not this one.
I would guess a more recent artist, probably from California.”

And then I got more curious to know the Artist and Title of he painting inside of my painting. So I e-mailed to The San Diego Museum of Art.

I got a response:

Hello Mariko,

Here is the title of the painting you were requested:

Ángel Zárraga

Mexican, 1886-1946

The Nude Dancer (Labailarina desnuda)

1907-1909

Oil on canvas

This piece was featured in the Modern Mexican Painting exhibit two years back.
